Derek Meyer, local firefighter and uncle to a few of our students, came to visit the Kindergarten classes last week as they learned about fire safety. Thank you for sharing with our little Blackbirds! Check out their awesome fire truck masterpieces! 🚒




Mrs. Thompson's 5th-grade social studies classes have been learning about Native Americans. They sampled '3 Sisters Stew' as well as Nori (seaweed) with sushi rice. Students loved them, even knowing that they were healthy and nutritious foods. Awesome job on the totem poles!

Today kicked off the first official "FriYAY Breakfast Club" for our Kindergarteners and their parents. As the children are beginning their school careers, parents will be able to build relationships with one another, fostering a strong school community.

Students in Mrs. Wixom's class recently finished Because of Winn-Dixie and replicated the party in the book. They had a party celebrating friendships, serving egg-salad sandwiches, Dump Punch, Litmus Lozenges, & pickles. Students decorated the classroom with dog pictures.
Anyone who has attended school most likely remembers their favorite teacher. Teachers can ignite a lifelong passion for a subject or inspire students to change the world. Thank you to all of the wonderful teachers on our staff as we join in celebrating World Teacher's Day!

Mrs. Frazer's Psychology students started their Developmental Psychology unit project today. They will journey through the stages of development by "raising" a beanie baby for the next several days. Today, students picked out their babies and decorated their baby carriers.
