Last week, Pre-K through 1st graders explored, experimented, engineered, problem solved and worked together outside using different tools in water. There was plenty of laughter and squeals of delight. It may surprise you, but no one was terribly wet. It really was a great day!

Fifth graders recently spent time investigating an oil spill cleanup. After running into quite a few dead ends using the materials available in the ‘real world’, they then learned about a polymer that ‘ate’ the oil, and left the water crystal clear.

The RMHC tab collection contest has been extended through the entire first semester. Keep saving your tabs, Blackbird family & friends! (Tabs can be turned into the school office at anytime, please designate Elementary or JH/HS for the contest). WE SAVE FOR... one of our Pettisville Elementary staff members: Mrs. Thompson's family. Hospital-provided housing has been a blessing to our family on more than one occasion. Our youngest, Jocelyn, was born two months premature at 32 weeks, and just over 3 pounds. She needed to be in the NICU for a month while her lungs grew stronger and she gained more strength. Living an hour away from the hospital and driving would have been very difficult for me, and this meant I could be with her and get the rest I needed as well. It also meant that my husband and our other children could come and visit, spend time with me and bond with their sister. Jocelyn Sinclair, meaning “Joyous Prayer” certainly was that. She was healthy and happy, but caught RSV at 4 months of age due to her “preemie” immune system. Yet again, she was hospitalized in Toledo, and we were able to stay near her in the Home on campus. Our little mighty girl spent 8 days with a parent constantly by her side because of the generous ministry that on site housing provides. Jocelyn is now a healthy 6 year old. My husband and I will forever be very grateful for the excellent care that both she and our family received during our time at the hospital. Not only were our medical needs well met, but our family’s need to be together was important as well.

“Unity is strength...when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” - Mattie J.T. Stepanek We have reached the end of the first full week of the 2021-2022 school year! It was a week filled with late summer heat, shoes squeaking in the freshly waxed hallways, laughter ringing from classrooms, and the familiar sounds and smells (who can forget the smell of the first day of school?) of a brand new school year. In short, it has been a great week! The video below is a “Welcome Back” from all of us at Pettisville Schools. We are all smiles, and maybe even a little bit goofy, but we couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to serve and teach your children! https://youtu.be/ftMqlSag0RE Welcome Back, Pettisville!
