Twas the night before August, and all through the halls,
Not a creature was stirring... not even dodgeballs.
The lockers were silent, the whiteboards were bare,
While echoes of laughter still hung in the air.
The pencils were sharpened (well… maybe just one),
The custodian’s waxing was finally done.
The lunch trays were stacked in the kitchen with care,
In hopes that no mystery meat shows up there.
In the teacher’s lounge fridge sits a lunch from July,
(If you open that Tupperware… may the odds be on your side.)
The Chromebooks are charging, the Wi-Fi’s alive,
The school is just waiting for students to arrive.
And deep in the library, eerie but neat,
A stack of old yearbooks fell off its seat.
The beanbags were fluffed, the bookmarks in place,
The old legend claims there's a haunted bookcase.
So rest up, young Blackbirds, while summer still gleams,
Because August is knocking with schedules and dreams.
Your teachers are prepping, their lesson plans tight—
Happy Last Day of July… and good luck sleeping tonight. 😄👻
