Yesterday, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards released their list of national medalists, and we are proud to announce that Pettisville students have received a three national Scholastic awards. Junior Madeleine Wixom received a silver medal in photography, senior Gretchen Lee received a silver medal in writing, and eighth grade Lyla Heising received a gold medal in writing. This is an incredible accomplishment for each of these individuals.

After 32 rounds successfully spelling words like praline, ubiquitous, garibaldi, menhaden, zeitgeber, alaminute, and Kazan, Pettisville 8th grader Lyla Heising was named the Toledo Blade Spelling Bee winner and has won a trip to Washington DC to represent Pettisville at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Lyla for her exceptional performance.

12 students presented projects at the Northwest Ohio Science & Engineering Fair (NWOSEF) at Northwest State Community College.  Matt Rupp, Jessie McWatters, Jordan Skates, and Kayla Wyse made super judging.  Jordan placed 1st and will be presenting at the International Science & Engineering Fair. Jessie and Kayla will go as observers.  All students did an awesome job representing Pettisville High School!

The FCCLA State Project is "Our Family, Our Kids." FCCLA members and Family and Consumer Science students made 100 washcloth bunnies. Each bunny holds a bar of soap. All of the washcloth bunnies are being donated to Sarah's House in Bryan.

The boys’ basketball team will play on Friday, March 2 at Bryan High School in the sectional final beginning at 6:00 PM. Doors open at 5:00 PM. There are no pre-sale tickets for the boys’ sectional tournament. Ticket prices at the door for the boys’ sectional tournament are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

The Pettisville Girls Basketball defeated the Antwerp Archers 32 to 17 on Saturday in the sectional tournament to advance to the district tournament. The girls will take on Wayne Trace on Thursday, March 1, at 6:15 PM at Archbold High School. Doors open at 5:15 PM. Pre-sale tickets for the girls’ district game will be on sale on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Pre-sale ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the door are $6. Anyone taking up a seat, regardless of age, will be charged admission. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets from the school as we receive a portion of the pre-sale ticket sales.
