Friday, Sept. 28 - 

Today, a college rep from the University of Toledo will be here at 11:15.

There will be a meeting today for all girls in grades 9-12 playing basketball this year. Please see Coach Waldvogel if you cannot attend. Warm-up shirt sizes need to be taken today.

Girls in grades 7 & 8 interested in playing basketball this year need to sign up in the office.

The Financial Aid night is at Wauseon High School on Monday, Oct. 1st at 6:30.  Amy Francis from Defiance College will present.  She can answer any FAFSA questions your family may have.

Registration forms for the Science of Historical Cooking STEM module must be turned in with the $20 registration fee by the end of the day today to Mrs. Meller or Mrs. Miller.

This afternoon, the FFA is promoting safety in the agriculture industry through an outdoor session in the south parking lot. As we begin the fall harvest season, we all need to protect each other and our agriculture neighbors on the roads and in the fields. After taking attendance at the beginning of 5th period, grades 7, 11, and 12 will go to the south lot. You will return to classes for 7th period. After reporting to 7th period, grades 8, 9, and 10 will go to the south parking lot. You will return to the school at 3:00pm.  Anyone in grades 8-10 involved in today’s afternoon Activity Period for NHS or FCCLA will go to that meeting and then go back outside.

Afternoon Activity Period will be from 1:55-2:25:  NHS will meet in the Health Room #150, FCCLA will meet in Mrs. Bacon’s room and all other students should report to homeroom.

The varsity soccer team was victorious on the road last night at Bryan by a score of 3 to 0.  The JV team was defeated by Bryan.

The varsity volleyball team picked up the BBC win over visiting Hilltop last night.  The Blackbirds won in three sets 25-18, 25-20, and 25-15.  The JV team was defeated by Hilltop. The 7th grade won over Hilltop and the 8th grade was defeated in three sets.

The varsity golf team had the highest team finish at the sectional tournament at Eagle Rock yesterday in school history.  Max Leppelmeier shot an 80, Tommy McWatters had an 84, Josh Horning a 92, and Caleb Nafziger had a 93 for a total of 349 to finish fourth at sectionals - only 7 shots from qualifying as a team to the district tournament. In addition to the highest sectional finish in school history, the Blackbirds finish the season with a first-ever BBC Tournament Championship, tied for the best overall BBC finish with a 2nd place, and set a school record for match wins with 13.  Congratulations on a great season.

Max Leppelmeier’s 80 at Eagle Rock yesterday qualifies him for the District Golf Tournament at Stone Ridge in Bowling Green on Thursday, October 4.  Max becomes the third golfer in Pettisville school history and the first golfer in 17 years to qualify to the district tournament.   Good luck at Districts.

We need 4 or more teams to hold this event.  4th-12th graders can sign up for the 6 on 6 dodgeball tournament using the same sign-up sheets located in the office or in Mr. Poulson’s room. Dodgeball is co-ed teams with no more than 4 boys on a team.  Sign up needs completed by Wednesday, Oct. 3 so brackets can be developed ahead of the contest.  There are no substitutes. The cost if $5/person. The prizes are t-shirts. Sign up and pay by 3:15 Wednesday, Oct. 3.

If any FCCLA members are interested in getting a t-shirt, the design is posted on the front of Mrs. Bacon’s classroom door and the cost will be $5. The chapter will pay for the rest. If you are interested, please go to Mrs. Bacon’s room and write down your name and size by Sept. 28th.

All JH students are invited to come to FCA today during lunch in the old commons by the library.  There will be many encouraging words, lots of fun and some desserts!  Bring your lunch to the old commons.  We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity volleyball teams for their victories last night over Stryker in the BBC.  The JV won in three sets 26 to 24, 20 to 25, and 25 to 15.  The varsity won in three sets with scores of 25 to 15, 25 to 15, and 25 to 12. The 8th grade won in three sets over Stryker and the 7th grade was defeated in three sets.

Detention today will be in Mr. Poulson’s room #163.

On Friday, Sept. 28, freshmen are invited to Mrs. Bacon’s room during lunch to grab a piece of pizza and go to lunch. Last year, this class brought in the most pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald house. Thank you for participating and your dedication to this great project.

The varsity golf team won a quad match with Tinora, Fairview and Hicksville last night with a score of 174.  Tommy McWatters led the Blackbirds with a 40, followed by Max Leppelmeier with a 43, Caleb Nafziger with a 45, and Josh Horning with a 46.

The JH soccer team lost a close match to Trinity Lutheran last night by a score of 2 to 1.

There will be open gym for boys’ basketball in grades 7 and 8 tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 PM in the junior high gym.

There will be no open gym for boys basketball in grades 9-12 tonight.

Last Friday at the Fulton County Soils Contest, both Pettisville teams placed 2nd in their contests. The top 5 in the Urban Soils for Pettisville were Gideon Myers, Clara Damman, Carson Bennett, Karsen Pursel, and Matt Rupp.  The top 4 in the Rural Contest were Grace Schnitkey, Sam Wilburn, Kearten Zuver and Andrew Hulbert. Both Gideon and Grace placed 2nd in the Individual Contests. Districts will be tomorrow morning in Williams County.

Congratulations to the varsity soccer team for their 5 to 0 victory over Cardinal Stritch on Saturday.

The varsity volleyball team picked up two more wins over Edgerton and Liberty Center on Saturday.  The Blackbirds defeated Edgerton 25-17 and 25-13 and Liberty Center 25-14 and 25-10.

The varsity golf team finished 3rd out of 12 teams at the Tinora Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club. Kalida finished 1st with a 329.  Liberty-Benton was 2nd with a 339 and Pettisville was 3rd with a 340.  Max Leppelmeier finished 3rd place with a 79, Caleb Nafziger was tied for 7th with an 82, Tommy McWatters was 11th with an 84, and Josh Horning was 30th with a 95 to round out the scoring.

Top finishers for the cross country team at the Liberty Center Invitational on Saturday:

Logan Rufenacht finished in 4th place, followed by Calvin Nofziger in 30th and Caleb Nolander in 36th.

Kate Stuber led the girls finishing in 7th place, followed by Kelly Miller in 22nd place and Sarah Foor in 27th place.

Detention today will be in Mrs. Richer’s room #202.
