The Pettisville Golf Team is holding a golf academy to teach Pettisville students entering grades 2-7 the fundamentals of golf. Members of the high school golf team and coaching staff will spend several hours over three days helping kids learn golf fundamentals such as stance, gripping, putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and full swing concepts. Students will also learn basic golf safety, rules, etiquette and effective practice habits all while having fun.  On the final day of camp we will have a drive, chip and putt competition.

Instruction for the academy will be provided by Pettisville High School Head Coach Mike Zimmerman, Assistant Coach Tom Lammers and Junior High Coach Nate Kester. Past and present Pettisville High School Golfers will also join in on the instruction. We look forward to creating excitement for golf and building skills that will be foundational blocks for attendees to grow their golf game.

FAQ’s

Does my student need golf clubs?
No!  As long as this form is filled out the golf program has enough clubs so that each student can participate.  We will also encourage players to share their clubs at this level, as long as they are comfortable with that.

What kind of clubs does my student need?
I would recommend a putter, a single short iron(sand wedge - 8 iron), a single long iron(7 iron - 3 iron), and a wood or driver.

What should my student wear to the golf course?
Collared shirt and a pair of dress shorts are preferred, as this is proper golf course etiquette, but with this age gym shorts and a t-shirt are ok as well. Hats are something else that are typical on a golf course.  Golf shoes are not required - athletic shoes will work fine.

What happens if weather threatens our time at the course?
Coach Zimmerman will send you an instant alert via text with the contact information you have provided.

Does my student have to attend all the days?
No, we realize that things come up and families have other plans at times.  We would love your attendance each day but it is not required.

Does my student need to bring money for food?
The club house has snacks for purchase, I would recommend bringing a water bottle. We will also provide a cold treat for each golfer.

Where is the drop off and pick up location?
We will start all of our days just north of the putting green.  Feel free to swing around the circle drive and drop your student off in front of the clubhouse where the bag drop is along with the putting green. Feel free to park in the parking spots north of the putting green for pick up.
