Announcements - Week of 2/4/19

Friday, Feb. 8 - 

This is the last day NHS members will be collecting money that will be sent to the areas of California devastated by the fires. The update for the themes in the lead are:  Mr. Lane – Beach and Mr. Waldvogel – 80’s.  Winning themes will be announced Monday.

Congratulations 6th, 7th & 8th graders for collecting $4, 445 on the third collection day of your fundraiser.  As of today we have collected $6,616!  Students who turned in orders or had online orders may stop into the office and pick up a space coop or lollipop for every sale.  Tuesday, February 12th will be the last collection day for students for this fundraiser.  Keep up the great work!

Today is the last day to sign up for the next STEM Module. It begins Monday, February 11 and will meet February 18, 25, and March 4. The focus of the module is basic coding. The sign up sheet is located on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door.

 

Congratulations to the JH Quiz team on their 47-27 season opener win over Stryker yesterday.

 

The winner of the Spirit Week Best Decorated Hallway is…….the 8th grade class!  Their theme was Peppermint Forest.  The hallway was awesome and the cheerleaders want to thank every class for participating!  Once again, congratulations to the 8th grade!

 

Morning Activity Period will be for FFA – meet in Mrs. Poulson’s room.  All Greenhand and Chapter Degree members plus officers; Student Council – Meet in Sr. Richer’s room.

 

Congratulations to the girls’ varsity basketball team for their BBC victory over North Central last night by a score of 45-30.

 

Good luck to the JV and Varsity boys’ basketball teams as they travel to North Central tonight and to Hicksville on Saturday. Pre-sale tickets are on sale today for the games at Hicksville.  Pre-sale ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.  All tickets at the door at Hicksville will be $6.  The Hicksville Rotary Club will be serving a pancake and sausage supper prior to the game on Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

 

Good luck to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team as they take on Edon at Edon High School tomorrow morning in the BBC Championship game.  Pettisville will play in the second game of the morning with the first game starting at 9:00am. The bus will depart for Edon at 8:00am.

Thursday, Feb. 7 - 

This past November, California was devastated by a series of wildfires that spread across the state.  These fires have caused over 3.5 billion dollars in damage, consumed more than 250,000 acres of land, and destroyed thousands of homes, while taking 84 lives. This week, in the morning and at lunch, NHS members will be collecting money that will be sent to the areas of California devastated by the fires. There will be 3 jars in the atrium for the junior high and high school, and NHS members will go to elementary homerooms in the morning.  The voting choices for both principals are outfits: 80’s theme, beach, and pajamas. The outfit that receives the most money by the end of the week is the outfit your principle will wear.  As of yesterday, the Beach theme is in the lead for Mr. Lane. The 80s theme is in the lead for Mr. Waldvogel. So far the students have collected over $200 for the victims of the wildfires.

The next STEM Module begins next Monday, Feb. 11 and will meet Feb. 18, 25 and March 4. The focus of the module is basic coding. Sign up by Friday, Feb. 8th. The sign-up sheet is located on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door.

FCCLA will be selling flowers and cans of Crush pop during lunch the rest of this week and a few days next week. Stop by the table in the atrium and pick up an order form. The flowers and pop cans will be delivered on Feb. 14.

Prom decoration committee will meet in the production lab at lunch today.

FFA Committees meeting at lunch today include:  Leadership, Healthy Lifestyles, Economic Development.

Congrats to FFA members who sent applications and officer books to Regional FFA competition yesterday.  Mauricea Crouch – treasurer, Jessie McWatters – secretary, Elizabeth Beck – reporter all had perfect scores and gold ratings on their officer books.  Mauricea and Liz placed 1st and Jess placed 3rd in their respective contest.  William Fenton, Calvin Nofziger and Jess McWatters had State Degree sent through to state evaluation and Madeleine Wixom, Liz Beck and Kayla Wyse had proficiency awards sent on to state.  Kayla also had a star agriscience application sent on.

Good luck to the freshman boys, JV girls, and the varsity girls tonight vs. North Central.  The freshman boys will tip-off at 4:45pm.  The 2 quarter JV girls’ game will be at 6:00 followed by the varsity game.

Junior high students are reminded to take their gym bags out of the junior high locker rooms today after school.  The junior high locker rooms will be used by the freshman teams today.

Last night the high school quiz team won their matches against Defiance (41-27) and Napoleon (43-24) moving them to 6-0 in the Northern Buckeye Academic League. Good luck to the junior high quiz team as they open their season this Thursday.

Last night three FFA members participated in the Fulton County Public Speaking contest. There can be 12 participants in each category. In the Creed speaking contest, Emma Salmi placed 2nd and Karsen Pursel placed 4th. Kayla Wyse took 1st place in Advanced Prepared. Both Emma and Kayla will move on to the district contest on Monday. We all wish them luck!

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls’ basketball team for their BBC Tournament Runner-up finish last night vs. Stryker at Fayette.  The 7th grade girls also finished the season as the BBC regular season runner-up. Well Done!
Congratulations to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team for their come from behind victory over Fayette last night in the BBC tournament semi-finals by a score of 23 to 22. The 8th grade boys will now face Edon this Saturday, February 9, at Edon High School in the BBC Championship Game.
Good luck to the JV and Varsity Girls Teams tonight as they host Hicksville.

We will operate on a morning activity period schedule today for class meetings. 7th and 8th graders should report to the JH gym for activity period.
