Friday, Feb. 26 - 

This week is National FFA Week.  Pettisville FFA was established in 1949. Since then we have had 142 members get their State FFA Degree. Of those 142 members, 35 members have gone on to earn their American FFA Degree, the highest degree that an FFA member can get. So far, six Pettisville FFA members have been an Ohio FFA State Officer with the most recent being Gretchen Lee.

Attention JH and HS track and field athletes. This is a reminder that practice beings on Monday, March 1 after school. Today’s Activity Period will be for NHS – meet in the study hall; Spanish Club – meet in room 202.

 The JH quiz team continued action this week. On Wednesday, they lost a close battle to Stryker with a final score of 27-32. Emily VanDenBerghe and Genevieve Heising were high scorers with 6 and 5 points respectively. On Thursday they defeated Tinora 53-30. Emily led the team with 13 points and Kendall Sears followed with 10.

Last night the varsity quiz team participated in the 2021 Buzzer Battle and competed against schools from all across the country. The team finished with an undefeated record and was named small school champions. Heath Waidelich was the overall high scorer in the small school division. Congratulations to them!

Thursday, Feb. 25 - 

This is a reminder that journalism applications are due tomorrow.

This week is National FFA Week.  In 1988, when the Future Farmers of America changed their name to the National FFA Organization, it was because of the growing diversity of agriculture. Today, Ohio Agriculture classes choose from six pathways and nearly 20 different course titles. Today is flannel/plaid/mismatch day. Tomorrow is FFA shirt/FFA mask day.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 -

This week is National FFA Week.  In 1969 the Future Farmers of America opened up membership to females. Today, there are over 760,000 FFA members in the United States with about 45 percent being female. Today is hat day for $1. Students are also wearing their Pettisville gear. The money will be donated to the Ohio FFA foundation. Tomorrow is flannel/plaid/mismatch day.

Attention students in grades 7, 9, and 11:  This morning students in grades 7, 9, and 11 will have their annual health screening by our school nurse, Mrs. King. 7th graders will have a vision screening. 9th and 11th graders will have both vision and hearing screenings. Students will be called from class in small groups today and this process will only take a couple minutes for each student.

Yesterday, the JH quiz team defeated Wauseon 31-19,  moving their season to 2-0. High scorers were Emily VanDenBerghe with 11 points and Caden Bishop with 4. The varsity team defeated Northview 370-90. The junior varsity team participated in the first ever JV NBAL tournament. The Pettisville JV team already clinched the league title, and yesterday after defeating LC in the semifinals and Evergreen in a very close final match, they were officially named tournament champions as well. Congrats to the JV team!

Tuesday, Feb. 23 -

This week is National FFA Week.  The FFA was granted a federal charter in 1950 which said that a U.S. Department of Education staff member must be the National FFA Advisor. Federal Law 740 also made FFA an incorporated organization. Today is camo day. Tomorrow is hat day ($1 donation) and Pettisville Spirit Wear. The money we raise will be donated to the Ohio FFA foundation.

Monday, Feb. 22 - 

This week is National FFA Week. The Future Farmers of America (FFA) was established in 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. The organization became the National FFA Organization in 1988 as classes expanded to all parts of agriculture, not just production agriculture. Today is white out and jean day. Tomorrow is camo day.

Juniors: Please bring your chromebooks on Tuesday to use after the ACT.

The Pettisville Ever-Ready 4-H club would like to invite you to attend their first 4-H meeting of the year to help get you enrolled in this great program! By joining 4-H you’ll meet new people, learn new life skills, build self-confidence, learn responsibility, set and achieve goals, and of course have fun! 4-H is open to all youth who are 8 years old AND in the 3rd grade by Jan. 1, 2021 and to those who are no older than 18 as of Jan. 1, 2021.  We’d love to have you in our club! Our first meeting is this Monday, Feb. 22 at 7:30pm. Due to COVID restrictions, we will be hosting a virtual meeting instead of meeting in person.
