Announcements - Week of 10/19/20

Friday, Oct. 23 - 

Today’s Activity Period will be for NHS – meet in the study hall and Spanish Club – meet in room 202.

Reminder:  You Choose Week will start on Monday. You can choose to be healthy, so make sure to get plenty of rest over the weekend and wear your PJs on Monday!

JH girls’ basketball practice will be today at 3:15 and Saturday at 8:00am.  HS practice will be today at 3:15 and Saturday at 8:30am.

Two FFA teams participated in soil career development events Tuesday. The urban team placed third in District One and 26th in the state with Carson Bennett, Mina Wesche and Eli Mora being the three team scorers. Lauren Shumaker, Karter Zachrich and Darrin Fenicle also participated. The ag soil team placed fourth in District One and 47th in the state with Luke VanDenBerghe, Grace Schnitkey and Leah Beck being the top scorers and Jaret Beck, Cayden Jacoby and Paris Coopshaw also participating.

The varsity volleyball team battled Hicksville in the sectional final at Hilltop last evening.  The Blackbirds lost in three sets 16-25, 23-25, and 12-25.

Good luck to the soccer team and cross country team tomorrow. The varsity cross country team will travel to Ottawa to run in the District Meet. The varsity soccer team will host Genoa in the sectional final.

Thursday, Oct. 22 - 

Attention all JH and JV soccer players: Please bring your jersey to school and return it to Mr. Switzer any time before this Friday, October 23rd.

Good luck to the volleyball team tonight in the sectional final vs. Hicksville at Hilltop High School starting at 7:30pm.

Attention girls’ basketball players: JH practice will be tomorrow at 3:15pm and on Saturday at 8:00am. HS practice will be tomorrow at 3:15pm and on Saturday at 8:30am.

Starting Monday, Oct. 26th, we will be celebrating YOU CHOOSE WEEK. You Choose Week is all about your power to make healthy choices. Each day will have a theme to dress up. There will also be challenges each day to show how you make healthy choices. Challenge cards can be found outside the counselor’s offices. Each completed challenge card will be an entry into a drawing for a prize basket, which will be announced Friday, Oct. 30th. The themes are: Monday – Be Healthy – Wear your PJs. Tuesday – Be Respectful – Wear a shirt of a different school/college. Wednesday – Be Proud – Wear Pettisville Gear. Thursday – Be Kind – Wear bright/neon colors. Friday – Be a Leader – Career Day – Dress for your future. Please see Ms. Jordan or Mrs. Wyman for any questions.

At the Fulton County FFA Trapshoot last night, Pettisville was led by Colton Wood and followed by Carson Bennett, Baden Skates, Blake Eyer and Eli Mora.

Attention Boys Basketball Players in Grades 7 and 8:  There will be a meeting in the varsity gym for boys’ basketball players in grades 7 and 8 today during the last 10 minutes of junior high lunch.  Please eat your lunch and then come to the varsity gym.

Congratulations to the volleyball team for their sectional semi-final victory over Stryker last night in five sets.  The Blackbirds won 25-20, 18-25, 22-25, 25-17, and 15-11. The volleyball team will now play in the sectional final on Thursday at Hilltop High School vs. the Hicksville Aces at 7:30 pm.

Monday, Oct. 19 - 

Congrats to the cross country teams on their finishes at the BBC Championships at Hilltop on Saturday.  The varsity girls were runners-up in the BBC. 1st team honors go to Elise Hoylman in 4th and Renee Hoylman in 6th.  2nd Team All BBC Honors go to Sophie Sterken in 8th. For the varsity boys, Zach McWatters earned Second Team Honors in 11th place.

The JH boys’ cross country team are BBC Champs! Jack Leppelmeier 2nd place; Carlos Bowers 3rd place, Caden Bishop 5th place, and Jayden Bliekamp 6th place.  Kendall Sears was the BBC Runner of the Year for the junior high girls, finishing in 1st place. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the golf team for their outstanding 4th place finish at the OHSAA State Golf Tournament this weekend. The Blackbirds finished Day 1 in 6th place with a score of 346.  They came out on Saturday with a 323 to move into 4th place. Individually, Max Leppelmeier finished tied for State runner-up one shot behind the leader. Tommy McWatters finished tied for 21st, Caleb Nafziger finished 32nd, Levi Myers finished tied for 56th, and Jake King finished tied for 67th. Congrats to Coach Zimmerman, Coach Lammers, Max, Tommy, Caleb, Levi, Jake, and Josh on a great season:  BBC Champs, Sectional Champs, District Champs, and 4th in the state!
