Friday, Oct. 27 - 

On Wednesday, Nov. 1st, the Student Council will be hosting a blood drive.  This is your chance to save lives.  Anyone age 15 and over can give blood.  16 and 17-year-olds need a permission slip signed by a parent to give blood.  Seniors can sign up with Maddy Gackenbach, juniors with Detric Yoder, and sophomores with Kelly Miller.  Thank you in advance for donating blood.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of enthusiasm, the Fall Dance for tonight has been cancelled. 

Pettisville has three Agriscience fair participants who were in the top three and are being awarded on stage in Indianapolis at noon today.  They are Gretchen Lee, Jordyn Skates and Kayla Wyse.  Also, Chrysta Beck, class of 2014, was named star over America Agriscience last night.  Jacob Dennis is on stage this afternoon as a top four finalist in Agriscience Research Plant Systems. Congratulations!

Practice for JV and Varsity girls’ basketball will start today after school.  Practice on Saturday will be from 8-10am.

There will be a boys’ basketball meeting for grades 9-12 at lunch today in room 150.  Bring your lunch to the meeting.  Any questions, see Coach Leppelmeier.

If you are a high school student and are interested in leading pep rallies, painting signs, or planning themes for spirit week, please sign up by this Friday to be a part of Pettisville’s “Spirit Squad.”  A sign-up sheet is on the production lab door in between the English rooms.

Activity Period today will be for NHS and FCCLA. NHS will meet in Mr. Swtizer’s room and FCCLA will meet in Mrs. Bacon’s room.  All other students should report to homeroom.

7th and 8th grade girls interested in junior high cheerleading need to sign up in the office by Monday, October 30th.

 ood luck to the cross country students tomorrow at the regional cross country meet at Tiffin Hedges-Boyer Park.  The Division III girls’ race will begin at 11:00am.  The Division III boys’ race will begin at 1:30pm.

Attention all girls in grades 7-12 playing basketball this year:  Team Sports will be here today during lunch for you to try on and order basketball shoes if you would like to.  It is not mandatory.  Team Sports will be outside Coach Stahl’s office.  If you have any questions, please see Coach Waldvogel.

Attention all NHS applicants:  This is a reminder that your applications should be turned in to Mr. Switzer’s room as soon as possible.   The deadline is Monday, October 30th at 3:05pm.  Applications turned in after this period will not be accepted.

We would like to congratulate the soccer and volleyball teams for their outstanding season!  The soccer team finished the season with a school record 14 wins and the first sectional championship in school history.  The volleyball team caps off another season with a trip to the district tournament along with another outright BBC Championship to make 5 years in a row.  Congratulations on your seasons!

The soccer team will play Ottawa Hills tonight in the district semi-finals at the Rossford Glenwood Athletic Complex starting at 5:00pm.  Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

The volleyball team will play Ayersville tonight at Napoleon High School in the second match of the evening with the first match between Toledo Christian and Stryker beginning at 6:15pm.  This is not a split session.  Your ticket is good for both matches.  Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.  Good luck to both teams tonight.

Monday, Oct. 23 -

There will be a Spanish Club trip meeting at lunch today in Sra. Richer’s room to go over trip payment.  Please bring your lunch as soon as possible so the meeting can be brief.

Nothing beats kindness today, but tomorrow we will all be dreaming about kindness, so wear your pajamas.  No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

Attention all high school students interested in extra ACT practice:  Mr. Switzer and Mrs. Wyman will host an ACT practice session Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:15 in Mr. Switzer’s room.  This session will review basic concepts present on the ACT and provide additional strategies designed for achieving success.  All high school students are welcome to attend.

STEM Club meets tomorrow after school in Mrs. Meller’s science classroom.

Attention FCCLA members:  If you signed up to go to the district rally tomorrow, please listen carefully.  Be sure you see Mrs. Bacon today.  Have your $1 registration fee along with your permission slip turned in.  Bring money for lunch.  We will meet in Mrs. Bacon’s room at the beginning of 1st period.  We will return for part of 7th period and all of 8th period.

Congratulations to the varsity soccer team for their sectional final victory over Lake on Saturday 3 to 2 in overtime.  This is the first sectional championship in school history.  The soccer team advances to the district soccer tournament at the Rossford Glenwood Athletic Complex.  The Blackbirds will take on Ottawa Hills at 5:00pm on Tuesday, October 24.  The soccer team and those riding the bus are dismissed from class at 2:45 PM on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team for their sectional final victory over Cardinal Stritch.  The volleyball team advances to the District Volleyball Tournament at Napoleon High School.  The volleyball team will play Ayersville on Tuesday, October 24, in the second match of the evening at Napoleon High School with the first match between Toledo Christian and Stryker beginning at 6:15pm.  This is not a split session.  Your ticket is good for both matches.  Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.  The estimated start time of the Pettisville match with Ayersville is 8:00pm.

The girls’ cross country team was runner-up at Districts this past Saturday.  Nichole Foor was district Champion.  Elizabeth Sauder was 3rd.  Lady Birds took places 1-3-13-14-19.

The boys’ cross country team came in 5th place at Districts.  Max Leppelmeier was district runner-up with a time of 16:37.  Logan Rufenacht also qualified for Regionals with coming in 8th.  Birds took spots 2-8-37-39-46.

Detention today will be in Mr. Nafziger’s room #119.
