Announcements - Week of 9/11/17

Friday, Sept. 15 - 

Colleges visiting this week:  Today – Bluffton at 11:15 and UNOH at 11:30.

 Activity Period today will be for FFA and Student Council.  FFA will meet in room 163.  Student Council will meet in the Theatre.  All other students should report to homeroom.

Cast of “Flowers for Algernon”:  Get your updated rehearsal calendar and bio sheet from Mr. Beck sometime today.

Ag students:  Freshman & Sophomores in Ag are to meet at 11:50 and get ready for going to Soils Judging.  You will miss part of periods 2-8, so be sure to get your make-up work.

FFA officers:  Please have a copy of the committees for sign-up and get to the Ag room as soon as possible for Activity Period.  All FFA members are to sign up for FFA committees today.

Periods 7 & 8 Ag classes will go to study hall today with the classwork given you for yesterday.

Ag seniors are needed for helping periods 1-5 if possible.

Attention STEM participants:  Today is the first session of the Arduino STEM module.  We will meet in Mrs. Meller’s room from 3:15-4:30.

The varsity golf team took on Hilltop and Edgerton at Ironwood last night. The Blackbirds were victorious over Hilltop 187 to 191 and lost to Edgerton by one shot 186 to 187.

The varsity volleyball team came up short last tonight in 5 sets to Hicksville.  After losing the first two sets, the Blackbirds won sets 3 and 4 to force a deciding 5th set.  The Aces came out on top in a tough 5th set by a score of 18-16.  The Aces also won the freshman and JV matches.

Good luck to the varsity and JV soccer teams tonight.  The varsity takes on Kalida at 5:00pm at Pettisville with a half of JV to follow.

Wednesday, Sept. 13 - 

Colleges visiting this week:  Friday – Bluffton at 11:15 and UNOH at 11:30.

Junior high FCA will meet at lunch today in Mrs. Miller’s room.  All junior high students are welcome!

The first high school FCA gathering will be today in the study hall.  Come for faith, fun and ice cream.  Bring your lunch and we’ll see you there!

The varsity soccer team improved their record to 4, 2, and 1 last night with a home victory over Toledo Christian by a score of 4-0. The soccer teams will host Kalida this Friday night with the varsity starting at 5:00pm and the JV will then play a half after the conclusion of the varsity match.

The varsity golf team picked up their first BBC victory of the season with a win over the Edon Blue Bombers last night.  The varsity team returns to the course on Thursday, hosting Hilltop and Edgerton in a non-conference tri-match.

Detention today will be in Mrs. Bacon’s room.

Tuesday, Sept. 12 - 

Spanish Club pizza are due at the end of the day today in Sra. Richer’s room.

Colleges visiting this week:  Today – Walsh at 11:15 and Messiah at 2:00.  Friday – Bluffton at 11:15 and UNOH at 11:30.

School pictures are this week.  The schedule is as follows: K-3rd grades will have pictures taken tomorrow. 4th-8th grades will have pictures taken on Thursday and 9th-12th grades will have pictures taken on Friday.  On Friday, seniors will be the first grade to get their pictures taken, starting with the seniors in the business management class who will be leaving on a field trip afterwards.  Staff pictures will be taken after school tomorrow, as well as before and after school on Thursday.  All Pettisville staff need to have a new picture taken.  All pictures will be taken in room 318 in the north wing, which is where they were taken last year.

There will be girls’ basketball open gym tonight from 6:30-8:00 for girls in grades 7-12. 

There will be boys’ basketball open gym from 8:00-9:30 tonight for grades 9-12.

The junior high soccer team picked up another win last night with a victory over Monclova Christian.

The 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams each had two set victories over Delta last night.

The varsity golf team secure a non-conference win over visiting Holgate last night 191 to 210.

The freshman volleyball team was defeated by Swanton in two sets.  The JV volleyball team lost in three sets to Ayersville.  The varsity team lost a tough 5 set match to Ayersville 23 to 25, 19 to 25, 25 to 20, 25 to 18, and 10 to 15.

Monday, Sept. 11 - 

Spanish Club pizza sales end tomorrow.  Please turn in sales slips to Sra. Richer by the end of the day Tuesday.

This is a reminder that the National Honor Society is putting together a donation fund for victims of Hurricane Harvey.  Bring $1 tomorrow to your first period or homeroom class and you will be permitted to wear a hat throughout the day.

The junior high soccer team picked their first victory of the season over Lenawee Christian on Saturday at home by a score of 4 - 2.

The 7th grade volleyball team was the tournament runner-up going 2 and 1 over the weekend at the Archbold Junior High Volleyball Tournament. The 8th grade volleyball team finished the weekend with 1 win and 2 losses at Archbold.

High School Cross-Country Results from Saturday at Tiffin:

Girls:  Team came in 17th out of 54 teams.  Kate Stuber led the Birds coming in at 56th.

Boys: Team was 19 out of 41 teams.  Max Leppelmeier & Logan Rufenacht led the Blackbirds at 61st & 64th.

Junior High Cross-Country Results from Saturday at Archbold:

Girls:  Team 7th out of 10 teams.  (111 total runners)  Elise Hoylman & Karsyn Hostetler led the Lady Birds finishing 11th & 12th, both in a time of 14:42.

Boys: There were 129 total runners.  Zach McWatters led the Birds finishing 72nd.

There will be boys’ basketball open gym on Tuesday from 8:00-9:30pm for grades 9-12.
