Friday, Feb. 21 - 

Prom Dinner Committee will meet in Mrs. Frazer’s room today at lunch.

This is “Random Acts of Kindness” week.  “Kindness is free; let’s pass it on.”

Attention girls in grades 8-11 interested in playing volleyball next season.  There is a sign up list on Mr. Horning’s office door. Please make sure to sign up today. 

The JH quiz team traveled to Evergreen yesterday and moved to 4-0 on the season with a 46-28 victory. Leading the way for the Blackbirds were Olivia Rossman with 12 points – a record high for points this year – and Sophie Sterken, Colton Wood, and Emily VanDenBerghe, all scoring 5 points.

Today’s FFA theme is “FFA/Ag Company shirt” and wear a hat for $1. The $1 is being donated to the Fulton County Radiothon Charity.

All high school students are invited to the Back Bay after the boys’ game tonight until 11:00.  We will be honoring the Seniors.

7th and 8th graders:  Today is the last collection day for the fundraiser. Please turn in any orders and money in your first period class.

Did you know...4.5 million Americans will need a blood transfusion each year?  The Red Cross is in urgent need of blood donations of all blood types. Donations provide lifesaving treatments to kids fighting cancer, patients with sickle cell disease and others facing serious illness or emergencies. Your blood donation is the lifeline patients need.  Sign up to give at the Pettisville Student Council-sponsored blood drive on March 5 from 9 a.m. -2 p.m. You could save up to three lives with your donation. Sign up at lunch, or online at Redcrossblood.org or contact Mrs. Richer.  

Junior high students who are in both band and choir should report to choir today.

Spanish Club reminders: There will be a trip meeting at lunch on Monday to hear more presentations and discuss other items in preparation for our March 15th departure. Bring missing forms if you haven’t turned them in. This includes medical form, vaccination note and phone chain.

Tonight’s theme for the boys’ last home basketball game is Seniors wear black and everyone else wear white.

At tonight’s basketball game, the high school quiz team will be hosting a silent auction and bake sale fundraiser. We hope to see you there!

Today’s Afternoon Activity Period will be for Spanish Club.  They will meet in Sra. Richer’s room.

MENU TODAY:  Elementary: Chicken Nuggets, Carrots w/Ranch, Fruit, Milk

High School:  Choice between Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Dinner Roll OR Build your own Turkey Sub with Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato and Mayo.  Meals include Carrots w/Ranch, Fruit, Milk

For FFA week, the Pettisville FFA Chapter wants to get everyone involved. The Ag classes will be keeping track of participants if you dress up.  The class with the most points will get a reward. Today’s theme is “USA.” Tomorrow’s FFA theme is “FFA/Ag Company shirt.”  Also, bring in $1 to wear a hat. The FFA is partnering with NHS and the $1 will be donated to the Fulton County Radiothon charity.

Congratulations to the junior high quiz team who defeated Delta yesterday 38-27. Caden Bishop and Sophie Sterken were high scorers with 7 and 6 respectively.

The girls’ varsity basketball team lost a close one to North Central last night in the sectional semi-finals. The Blackbirds battled back to send the game into overtime on a 3-point shot by Mikayla Graber with 4 seconds remaining. The Eagles came out on top by a score of 44-38 in overtime.

Attention 7th and 8th graders:  Today is the 2nd collection day for the fundraiser. Please turn in any orders and money in your first period class. If you did not receive a magazine packet yesterday and would like one, you may pick it up in the office.  Just a reminder that Friday is the last collection day.

Seniors who ordered graduation items from Jostens can pick up your packet from Mr. Lane immediately after school today.

Sophomores: Please check the paper on Mrs. Frazer’s door to see when you’re scheduled to work tomorrow evening during the Sophomore Supper.

A special “thank you” to the Pettisville FFA chapter for the outstanding breakfast this morning. The staff and community appreciates all of the work provided by the FFA members throughout the year.

This is “Random Acts of Kindness” week.  “Random acts of kindness, however small it may be, can transform the world.”

This past Saturday, a few high school quiz team members traveled to Solon, OH (just outside of Cleveland) to participate in tournament. Out of the three Pettisville teams fielded, two of them finished as the top small school teams, with one of them winning the consolation bracket. This finish earns them a second bid to the national tournament this April.

Good luck to the girls’ basketball team tonight in the sectional semi-finals at Bryan High School.  The girls team will take on North Central in the second game of the evening starting at approximately 8:00pm.  This is not a split session. Your ticket is good for both games.  Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. 

Results from over the weekend:  The JV and varsity boys’ basketball teams both picked up BBC wins at Fayette on Friday.  The JV won 35-31 and the varsity won 45-37.  On Saturday, the JV and varsity boys were both defeated by Wauseon.  The JV lost 27-40 and the varsity lost 43-50.  In the third quarter on Saturday night vs. Wauseon, Graeme Jacoby became the 9th player in Pettisville boys’ basketball history to score 1000 points.  Congratulations!
