Friday, Sept. 21 - 

Sign up for the 2nd module of STEM begins this week. The next module of STEM will be the Science of Historical Cooking at Sauder Village. The cost will be $20 for all four sessions. It will begin Tuesday, October 16th. Students in grades 7-12 can sign up on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door plus get a registration form to fill out to turn in with their $20 payment. Applications can be picked up from Mrs. Meller or Mrs. Miller. Dates for this module are posted on the sign-up sheet and at the top of the registration form.

We will be operating on the Picnic at the Park with an afternoon activity period schedule today. It is a beautiful day for this extended lunch sponsored by your student council. Be sure to thank Mr. Beck and Mrs. Richer, along with all student council members for the work they did to plan for today. Also, please thank the cafeteria workers for the time they put into preparing the sack lunches for you to take with you to the park.

Activity Period this afternoon will be for those sophomores and juniors in Spanish Club who are planning on going on the Spanish Club trip. Thy will meet in room 202.  Freshmen will meet with the Josten’s rep in room 209 during today’s activity period to talk about class rings.  All others will meet in homeroom.

During 8th period today, all seniors should report directly to room 209 to meet with the Josten’s rep to talk about graduation items.

Congratulations to the golf team for winning the BBC Tournament Championship yesterday with a team score of 338.  Tommy McWatters led the Blackbirds earning co-medalist honors with a 75.  Max Leppelmeier was second with a 76.  All six golfers earned BBC All-Conference Honors for the year. Tommy McWatters and Max Leppelmeier are 1st team all-conference. Josh Horning, Jake King, Austin Horning, and Caleb Nafziger are BBC Honorable-Mention.

Congratulations to the volleyball teams for their victories last night in the BBC over Montpelier.

The varsity volleyball team won in four sets 25-12, 25-11, 19-25, and 25-16. The JV won in three sets 25-20, 24-26, and 25-14. The 8th grade team won in two sets 25-17 and 25-14. The 7th grade team won in three sets 25-20, 21-25, and 25-23.

The junior high soccer team defeated host Monclova Christian last night. The varsity soccer lost to Liberty Center 4 to 2 and the JV fell was defeated 1 to 0.

Thursday, Sept. 20 -

There will be a freshmen class meeting tomorrow at 1:55. There will be an announcement to release all freshmen to the cafeteria.  The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes. There will be a senior class meeting tomorrow at 2:35 in the cafeteria.

Reminder:  No students are to be in the varsity or junior high locker rooms or the upstairs hallway during lunch without permission. Please do not leave any valuables unattended in the locker rooms, as a few items have come up missing lately.

Wednesday, Sept. 19 - The PHS Student Council will be hosting the Red Cross Blood Drive here at Pettisville on Wednesday, Oct. 3.  Please consider donating much needed and life-saving blood.  You may sign up for a time in the atrium during lunch. You must be at least 16 years old to be eligible to donate.

All 7th and 8th graders are welcome to come to the junior high FCA today where there will be desserts, encouragement, and lots of fun!! It is being held in Mrs. Miller’s room 207. Please come up with your lunch and join the fun!!

There are no detentions scheduled for tonight.  Let’s keep this win streak going.

Congratulations to all our Blackbird teams last night for their victories.  Varsity golf defeated Stryker in a BBC match 178-187. Varsity volleyball won in 3 matches over Edon. The JV also won in three. The 7th and 8th grader volleyball teams also picked up the road win!

Junior high FCA starts this tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 19. All 7th & 8th graders are invited to enjoy games, encouragement, and some sweet snacks. Please come to Mrs. Miller’s room with your lunch.

The junior class prom theme committee will meet today during lunch in Mrs. Meller’s science classroom.

This past Friday, Kayla Wyse presented her research project at the Big E, the Eastern States Exposition. Twenty FFA members from the 15 eastern states were judged to hone their judging skills. Kayla received a Gold Rating and 3rd place. The Big E was held in western Massachusettes.

Spanish Club pizza sales slips are due today.

Congratulations to the varsity soccer team for their 5-1 victory over visiting Swanton last night. The JV soccer team was defeated 6-3.  The JH soccer team lost to Emmanuel Christian 4 to 1.

The gym will be open for boys’ basketball players in grades 9-12 tonight after the home volleyball game with Edon.

Monday, Sept. 17 - 

Congratulations to all who auditioned for the PHS fall production of “Clue.” The cast list is posted outside the theatre doors.  There will be a read-through tonight at 7:00pm in the theatre.

Just a reminder to all who came to the first session of the 3D Printing STEM module:  We will again be meeting on Thursday after school. If you missed the first session, please see Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Meller to find out what you need to do to register for the online resources we will be using on Thursday.

The JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams picked up BBC wins over Fayette.  The JV won in two 25-18 and 25-18. The varsity won in three 25 to 12, 25 to 19, and 25 to 7.  The 8th grade volleyball team won in two over Fayette 25-8 and 25-8.  The 7th grade was defeated in a close two set match.

The JH soccer team was defeated by host Trinity Lutheran by score of 3 to 0. The varsity soccer team played to a 0 to 0 tie with Kalida on Friday.  The JV team was defeated by Kalida.

Congratulations to the Pettisville Golf Team for taking 1st place out of 15 teams at Ironwood on Saturday in first Pettisville Golf Invitational.  The Blackbirds total of 333 took first with Antwerp in second with 350.  The Blackbirds were led by the two lowest scores of the day.  Max Leppelmeier took first with a 76 and Tommy McWatters was second with a 78. Caleb Nafziger’s 85, Josh Horning’s 94 and Austin Horning’s 96 rounded out a solid team performance.

Cross Country Results at Fayette Invitational:

-Congratulations to Logan Rufenacht for placing first on Saturday in the varsity boys’ race.

-The varsity girls were team champions with four in the top 15: Kate Stuber in 3rd, Morgan Leppelmeier in 6th, Kelly Miller in 8th, and Sarah Foor in 15th.

-The JH girls finished in 5th place with Elise Hoylman in 19th place.

-The JH boys were led by Zach McWatters in 24th place.
