Announcements - Week of 11-6-17

Friday, Nov. 10 

The next module of STEM will begin Tuesday, November 21st.  Learn some cool applications of genetic concepts and how to use computer coding to analyze experimental data.  Sign up is posted on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door and ends next Wednesday, November 15th.

 Junior High and High School students will be having a competition between grades.  This competition will be to see which grade can collect the most pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Toledo.  There will be a small gray bin in each homeroom for you to put your pop tabs in.  At the end of each quarter, there will be a pizza party during lunch for the winning grade.  This competition begins on Monday, November 13th.  Collection days will be every Friday.  For further information, see Autumn Ryan, Autumn Coffey or Mrs. Bacon.

The Spirit sign for the student section in the gym will be in the JH gym today and Monday.  We would like all high school and junior high students to sign it.

There will be an NHS meeting for current members at 11:45 today in the health room.

7th grade and NHS:  Please make sure to turn in your movie money.  If you forgot, bring it Monday.

If you have a meeting during activity period today, please see your homeroom teacher and get your grade card if you did not pick it up already in the office.

This is a reminder to boys’ basketball players to give Mrs. Meller your pre-order and money for the Junior Class Supper.  Pre-orders must be turned in today or Monday.  No pre-orders will be accepted next Tuesday, the day of the supper.

Auditions for the PHS spring musical, “My Fair Lady,” will be held next week Monday and Friday, November 13 and 17.  See Mr. Beck to schedule an audition time.

Next Tuesday, November 14th, is the junior class supper.  You are invited to enjoy Brookview chicken and Doughbox pies prior to Meet the Team night.

Activity Period today will be for FFA & Student Council.  FFA will meet in Mr. Poulson’s room and Student Council will meet in the theatre.  All other students should report to homeroom.

The next module of STEM will begin Tuesday, November 21st and run four weeks.  We will be working with Bill Holdsworth, the plant breeder from Rupp Seeds, and will be learning the application of some basic genetics concepts and then using R coding to analyze data we collect.  Sign up is on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door.

Wednesday, Nov. 8

Tuesday, Nov. 7 

If you ordered school pictures, please pick them up in the office.

Congratulations to the high school quiz team on their victories in Maumee yesterday.  Currently, the varsity quiz team is 2-1 in the Toledo Area Quiz League, and the JV team has won two and tied in one.  Be sure to tune in to WNWO NBC 24 this Sunday morning to watch the team take on Rossford in the Academic Challenge.

Monday, Nov. 6 

Detention today will be in Mr. Horning’s room #150.

Attention all Spirit Squad members:  Please meet in Ms. Dorosz’s room today at lunch.

Juniors, tomorrow do not report to 1st period.  Please gather by the front office so we can leave quickly for Defiance.

The last session of the STEM 3D module is right after school with the 3D Printed Bridge Challenge.

Cross Country Results from Saturday at State:

Girls – Team came in 6th out of 20 teams.  Ladies took 7-23-85-88-114.  Elizabeth Sauder placed 7th and Nichole Foor placed 23rd.  Both were named “All-Ohio.”  We had 6 runners who were “Academic All-Ohio”:  Elizabeth Sauder, Nichole Foor, Kate Stuber, Kelly Miller, Morgan Leppelmeier, Ava Hoylman.

Boys – Max Leppelmeier place 67th and Logan Rufenacht place 110th.  Logan was named “Academic All-Ohio.”
