Announcements - Week of 2/13/17

Friday, Feb. 17, 2017:  Today, student council will be having a JH dance after school until 5:00. All 7th and 8th graders are welcome. There will be a table in the atrium where you can sign up at lunch. It only costs $1 to come if you sign up ahead of time or just pay at the door. There is a song request sheet posted in the JH hallway so you can request songs for the dance. Hope to see you there!

Mrs. Friend is out of the building today. Her students should report to study hall.

With basketball tournament coming up, we will be having spirit week next week starting with “Tacky Tourist” on Tuesday. Help your class win by going all out!

All FCCLA members should stop by Mrs. Bacon’s room sometime today for punch and cookies to celebrate FCCLA Week.

Congratulations to the junior high quiz team on their 56 to 24 victory over Stryker last night.

6th, 7th and 8th graders: TODAY is the first collection day of your fundraiser. Please turn in completed orders and money to your homeroom/1st period class to count for today’s prizes. All orders will be collected right after announcements.

Activity Period today will be for Student Council and Spanish Club. Student Council will meet in the theatre. Spanish Club will meet in the cafeteria. All other students should report to homeroom.

Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017:  

Attention high school quiz team: Practice after school today has been cancelled.

All 7th and 8th graders should report to the JH gym today for 8th period to attend the magazine, cookie dough and tumbler sale kick-off. Please take all books to your locker after 7th period and report to the JH gym promptly!

Congratulations to the junior high quiz team in their season opener against Evergreen. The quiz team was victorious with a final score of 54-27.

Congratulations to these art students who have won awards at the Black Swamp Arts Council HS Invitational Art Show: Outstanding Mixed Media – Sarah Beck; Outstanding Printmaking – Sami Tilley; 2nd place Printmaking – Calvin Nofziger; Honorable Mention in Printmaking – Mikayla Graber.  Their artwork, along with students Carly Bontrager, Marais Borton, Kristine Davis, Candidate Vickery, and Shelby Weber, are on display in the atrium at Northwest State Community College until Thursday, February 23. You are welcome to stop out and view the exhibit.

Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017:  

Last night, the high school quiz team traveled to Archbold for the final matches of regular season. The team defeated Defiance, L.C., and Napoleon with scores of 43-24, 39-30, and 42-30 respectively. These wins meant that the team clinched first place in the Northern Buckeye Academic League head-to-head competition, doing so with a decisive 11-0 overall record. This win qualifies them to move on to regionals for the first time in school history! Congratulations to the quiz team!

Monday, Feb. 13, 2017:  

Detention today will be in the Career Center with Mrs. Wyman.

Today is the last day to sign up for the next 4 week STEM modules. Choices include water quality, coding, and atrium mural work. The sign-up sheets are located on Mrs. Meller’s science classroom door.

Congratulations to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team for their victory over Stryker in the BBC tournament championship on Saturday. The 8th grade boys finished the season 16 and 2 BBC regular season and tournament champs.

Four FFA members competed in the public speaking contest for District 1 last night. Placing second in extemporaneous speaking was Jacob Dennis. Placing fourth in the advanced prepared speaking contest was Gretchen Lee. Placing sixth in the beginning prepared speaking contest was Kayla Wyse. Placing eighth in the creed contest was Kaitlyn Wiemken. The district can have 14 speakers in each category. Congratulations to these FFA members.
