Auditions are being held for the 2019-2020 season of Noteworthy. All students currently in grades 8-11 who are enrolled in both semesters of choir next year are eligible to audition. See Mr. Beck to schedule an audition time.

Teachers, staff, and students:  Remember to get your ice cream cup at lunch today.

Morning Activity Period will be for Spanish Club – meet in Sra. Richer’s room; NHS – meet in the high school computer lab; FCCLA – meet in Mrs. Bacon’s room.

Congratulations to the following for their top four finish last night for Day 1 of the District Track Tournament at Archbold High School.  The following have qualified for the Regional Track Tournament next week:  Grace Schnitkey - 1st place in the discus; Kate Stuber, Sarah Foor, Kelly Miller and Morgan Leppelmeier -  2nd place in the 4 x 800 relay; Ellie Wixom - 4th place in the pole vault; Graeme Jacoby - 4th place in the shot put.

Good luck to the varsity track teams tomorrow for Day 2 of the District Tournament. Good luck to the baseball team tonight vs. Fayette.

The Student Council has planned for Picnic in the Park today from 11:00-12:15.  Junior high students may be dismissed at 10:55 for lunch, with high school to follow at 11:05. Please take your food from the cafeteria and eat along the route or when you arrive at the park. There are trash cans along the route for disposal. Please keep trash picked up and stay on the sidewalks as you walk. Make sure you return to class by 12:15. 

Good luck to the softball team as they travel to Fayette tonight, the baseball team in the sectional final at Antwerp, and the track teams tonight at the district tournament at Archbold.

There will not be open gym for boys’ basketball tonight.

Friday at lunch, the Poulson family will be passing out ice cream cups as a thank you. Stop and get a cup at the table at the back of the cafeteria on Friday.

Tomorrow will be the last serving day for breakfast and iced coffee. Thank you for supporting your friendly blackbird café and make it a fabulous summer! Seniors, all of the cafeteria ladies will miss you.

High School quiz team members:  We will be taking a team picture this Thursday morning. Be in the atrium by 8:10 wearing your Nerd Herd jerseys from this year.

There will be high school FCA today in the band room. It will be the final FCA of the year. We will have a prayer and worship session. Junior high students are invited as well.

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team for their sectional semi-final victory over the Stryker Panthers last night by a score of 6-5 behind a complete game from Logan Rufenacht. The Blackbirds move onto the sectional final at Antwerp on Thursday, May 16 for a 5:00 start. Good luck on Thursday!

Detention today will be in Mrs. Nafziger’s room #119.

Good luck to the baseball team today in the sectional semi-finals at Stryker starting at 5:00pm. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

There will be basketball open gym tonight from 7:30-8:30 for girls in grades 5-11.

Monday, May 13

A big thank you to all of you who supported the 2nd grade Consumer Fair this year.  The class will be donating $1,539.27 to AllieStrong. We are very thankful to you all for helping us better our world. We couldn’t have done it without you!  Thanks again!

The last HS FCA is this Wednesday. It will be a prayer and worship session in the band room. JH students are invited as well.

The past weekend, the HS quiz team participated in the OAC state tournament. They entered the tournament with the 16th seed and finished in 14th. One of the teams they defeated in the tournament was the same team that defeated them in the regional tournament. Congratulations to the Nerd Herd for qualifying and for the improvement they made!

Congratulations to the JH track girls for their 11th BBC Championship in a row.  Congratulations to the junior high boys for the 4th place finish. Event champions include: Ellie Grieser – high jump; Bella Strauss – long jump; Amanda Grimm – 200 hurdles and 200; Cayden Jacoby - high jump and 110 hurdles; Elisabeth Rochefort – pole vault setting a new BBC record of 8’6” and tying the school record.

BBC track championships on Saturday: Congratulations to the varsity girls for claiming the BBC Championship for the 6th year in a row. Congratulations to the boys’ varsity for their 4th place finish. Event champions include: Ellie Wixom – pole vault; Morgan Leppelmeier – 1600 and 800; Sarah Foor – 400; Grace Schnitkey – 200; Kate Stuber – 3200; 4x800 team of Kate Stuber, Sarah Foor, Kelly Miller and Morgan Leppelmeier; 4x100 team of Grace Schnitkey, Meleah Plank, Danielle King, and Xavia Borden; Zach Morrison – pole vault; Graeme Jacoby – shot put.

Congratulations to Jessie McWatters and Baden Skates who earned superior rating and Madeline Shumaker who earned an excellent rating at the Ohio Academy of Science State Science Day in Columbus this past Saturday. Also, Jessie flew out Sunday morning with her parents to meet the NW Ohio delegation at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, AZ.  She will be presenting her project this week at the international science competition.  Jessie is one of approximately 1800 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions, and territories that are awarded the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for on average $4 million in prizes at ISEF.
