Announcements - Week of 5-6-19

Thursday, May 9 - 

Attention FCCLA members:  Tomorrow morning, during Activity Period, FCCLA will have a group picture taken.  Members should wear their black FCCLA t-shirts and nice jeans. Officers should wear their red blazers, ascot, white shirt, black pants, and black shoes. Meet in Mrs. Bacon’s room at the beginning of Activity Period.  See Mrs. Bacon if you have any questions.

FCCLA will be electing officers for next year during Activity Period tomorrow. FFA and Student Council will also meet, so if you are in one of those organizations, you should go to those meetings first and then come to FCCLA for the group picture at the end of Activity Period.  Please be sure you vote!

FCCLA members going to the Mud Hens game:  This is a reminder that the game is Wednesday, May 15th. Wear jeans, t-shirt or comfortable clothes. Bring a sweatshirt or jacket. Watch the weather forecast for that day. We will leave the school at 8:10. Bring money if you would like to purchase souvenirs or purchase lunch on your own. See Mrs. Bacon with any questions.

Attention students in grades 8-11 who are interested in playing high school golf next fall.  Please sign up outside of Coach Zimmerman’s office this week. We will be having a meeting during lunch tomorrow in the high school computer lab to discuss expectations for the 2019 golf season. Head up to the computer lab with your lunch!

There will be basketball open gym tonight from 7:30-8:30 for girls in grades 5-11.

The JH BBC meet for today has been cancelled. The meet has been rescheduled for Saturday at Stryker starting at noon.

The FFA wants to thank everyone for their cooperation and work on Monday with the packaged meals. It was a great school-wide effort. We packaged 53,184 meals into 8864 bags that were boxed in 277 boxes. About 200 of those boxes were spoken for and most of them loaded out yesterday. Thank you for making a difference.

Tuesday, May 7 - 

Come one come all to the 2nd grade Consumer Fair in the atrium. It is today from 12:45-2:15. There are many interesting items for you to check out.  Proceeds go to Allie Strong. Hope to see you there.

Last Friday, Zach Morris, Trenton Moyer, Sophie Sterken, Olivia Rossman, Lauren Shumaker, Susan Ringler, Rylee Beltz, Rosemary Baer, Renee Hoylman, Elise Hoylman, Haley Bronson, and Isabella Strauss traveled to the Writers Ink competition.  In the 8th grade, out of 24 writers, Rylee Beltz received 5th place, Rosemary Baer received 4th place and Elise Hoylman received 2nd place. In 7th grade out of 24 writers, Trenton Moyer placed 7th, Sophie Sterken received 4th, and Zach Morris placed 3rd.  Congratulations to all our creative writers!

This past weekend, the high school quiz team traveled to the NAQT small school National Championship Tournament. Two teams competed, and the Pettisville A team finished 32nd overall and 14th among very small schools. Out of 432 quizzers with recorded scores, Luke Young (Pettisville A) finished 62nd and Dalton Myers (Pettisville B) finished 65th. Over the weekend, all 28 quizzers in attendance had opportunity to compete – whether in scrimmages, preliminary matches, or consolation tournaments. Congratulations to the quiz team for their second straight national appearance.

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team for their 19-4 BBC victory over Fayette last night.

Boys’ basketball open gym is tonight at 8:00pm.

Monday, May 6 - 

The Consumer Fair is tomorrow. Many of you have been involved in past years. Come and check out the many creative items that have been made by the second graders. Come buy a gift for your mom, yourself or a friend. See you all there!

Awards from State FFA Convention:  Earning their FFA Degrees were: William Fenton, Jessie McWatters, Calvin Nofziger. Earning gold pins for chapter officer books were: Liz Beck, Jessie McWatters, Mauricea Crouch. Earning gold rating in Agri Science Fair were: Kayla Wyse, Baden Skates, Jessie McWatters.  Baden & Kayla placed first in their Division & Category. Their research reports will be submitted to National competition in July.  Madeline Wixom placed 3rd in Wildlife Proficiency. Kayla Wyse placed 1st in AG Science Plant Research. Kayla’s application will advance to National competition in July.  Kayla was a runner-up in the Star Agriscience Competition. Gretchen Lee represented Pettisville well serving at State Secretary. The Chapter received recognition for being a Gold Medal Chapter and as a Charitable Giving Chapter.  Mr. Poulson would like to thank all those who helped nominate him for the Golden Owl Award. He was proud to be recognized as the overall winner of the 10 nominees.

Good luck to the softball team tonight in the sectional semi-final at Holgate. The game starts at 5:00 at Holgate. Good luck to the baseball team as they travel to Fayette tonight in BBC play.

There will be high school boys’ basketball open gym on Tuesday at 8:00pm.

Detention today will be with Miss Stahl in room 150.
